You can choose between the beautiful Tyrol, the popular ski regions of Carinthia, Vorarlberg and Upper Austria, the cultural Lower Austria with a visit to Vienna as well as Styria, Burgenland and Salzburg. However, all holiday regions have one thing in common: everywhere you can spend a relaxing and at the same time wonderful holiday all year round. The landscape in Austria is particularly characterised by picturesque lakes and mountain landscapes. The Achensee in Tyrol and also the Wörthersee, the Ossiacher See and Faaker See in Carinthia invite you to take long walks and to linger. After a hike, a hearty snack with fresh cows milk or a glass of buttermilk in an idyllic alpine hut is the perfect way to refresh yourself.

Open-Air Activities

Romantic winter landscapes and snow-covered slopes are just some of the images we automatically associate with Austria. This is a true paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. The ski regions invite you to go skiing, cross-country skiing, ice-skating or even tobogganing. Popular ski regions for beginners and re-starters are the Hochzeiger, ski jewel Alpbachtal-Wildschönau and the Kitzbüheler Alpen St. Johann region in Tyrol. Famous places like Kitzbühel or Seefeld attract not only winter sports enthusiasts, but also other tourists. These picturesque places captivate with great shopping, exclusive shops and many rustic stops. Hiking holidaymakers also get their moneys worth in Austria. Well-signposted hiking trails lead past imposing mountain landscapes, idyllic alpine pastures and rustic mountain huts that are embedded in the landscape. Especially in summer, hiking buses are in operation and cable cars provide access to the high mountains. One of the most impressive hiking areas is definitely the National Park Hohe Tauern. In the largest protected area, located in the Alps, you can go on simple day hikes, via ferrata or alpine tours lasting several days.

On the trail of Empress Sissi

Feel like once the Empress and stroll through the historic alleys of Vienna. Discover the magnificent buildings, the beautiful palaces and exciting museums. In the Vienna Volksgarten, the Sisi Monument commemorates the once most beautiful empress of her time. Not far away from there is the Augustinerkirche. This is where Sissi and Franz Josef were married in 1854. Another highlight for Sissi enthusiasts is Schönbrunn Palace. The former summer residence of the empress was built in the late 17th century and impresses with a beautiful palace park with noble gardens. In addition to a varied cultural programme, Vienna also has a lot to offer in terms of culinary delights. Vienna is known above all for its cuisine and teahouse culture. Be sure to try a traditional Viennese Schnitzel and a piece of original Viennese Sachertorte.
